The movie "Super Mario in the Cinema" showed that video game films can be successful at the box office. Now that other studios have found out about it, expect to see more movies based on video games in the future.
Chris Pratt, the star of Super Mario at the Movies, says that the sequel to the film is not the only upcoming project based on Nintendo games. "I can't tell you much, but I can tell you that another Mario movie is coming out soon. I'm very excited to think about the world of Mario and Nintendo in general," he told GamesRadar.
"I think that over the next decade, we will see a lot of stories related to this world. I was thrilled, honored, and blessed to be a part of the first project and move forward. I'm ready to do as much and as little as they want me to do. I can't say much, but I'm just as excited as everyone else."
We understand that, beyond a sequel to the popular Mario odyssey, there's also an upcoming chapter in The Legend of Zelda franchise helmed by Wes Ball. Anticipation builds as we remain on the lookout for which additional titles from Nintendo's catalog might make the leap to the big screen.
