For Chapter 3 Season 2, Epic removed building from Fortnite. On April 4, this popular element has returned. Epic announced it in a tweet where it encouraged Fortniters to “play your way!” Has anything changed since the moment building was ditched as a mechanics?
The recent season was experimental for Fortnite. Building has been one of Fortnite’s original features even before it went Battle Royale, even giving it its name. The decision to remove it was not of those that come easily. Ditching it, Epic introduced a bunch of new mechanics instead, like Overshield that protects you when charged, and a bunch of new movements like sprinting, shoulder bashing, and mantling. But now it’s time to go back to the basics.
The new mechanics, though, won’t go away as the building returns. Fortnite is about fortification again, but you still can climb up, bash doors out, and sprint faster than before. Players had an entire season to master these new techniques, and now, combined with good old walls and stairs, they can result in incredible tactical possibilities. The new games will be incredibly spectacular.
If you liked the new version of Fortnite more than the classical one, though, you can continue in the Fortnite Zero Build mode. Essentially, it’s what we had in Ch3S2. In this mode, you will match within Zero Build mode with other players who prefer tactical freedom to constructing, which makes the game faster and more action-focused. This may also be the attraction for Apex Legends and PUBG fans who made their choice because they didn’t like building in Fortnite.
Did you pay more attention to building features in Fortnite all that time? Did you miss it while it was gone, or did you rather feel released? If you consider building an integral part of Fortnite, would you at least try Zero Build? Share your opinion with us in the comments!
